The Penn State basketball team lost several players to the transfer portal early in the week, as players chose their next steps with the window now officially open. But just as it appeared like the dust was starting to settle for the Nittany Lions, Mike Rhoades lost another player to the portal Friday morning. Jameel Brown has officially entered his name in the transfer portal making him the fourth scholarship Nittany Lion to make this decision this offseason.
Jameel Brown just finished his sophomore season on the court for the Penn State basketball team. He was the lone remaining recruit from Micah Shrewsberry’s recruiting efforts when he was the head coach at Penn State.
Brown took a step forward in his game this past season. Averaging 4 points per game and appearing in 27 games this past season. His career high came on opening night against Delaware State, where he scored 20 points. Brown ended up knocking down six three-pointers in that contest. Now, Verbal Commits has announced that Jameel Brown has officially entered the transfer portal. Losing the Philadephia native is a tough blow, but Brown should have no issues finding his next school.

Brown makes it four scholarship players who have entered the transfer portal this offseason. Kanye Clary who was dismissed from the team in February would be the fifth player who suited up for Penn State last season that has hit the portal.
Other players include guard Bragi Guðmundsson, forward Favour Aire, and center Demetrius Lilley. The roster will look very different next season as Mike Rhoades will need to work on adding additional talent from the transfer portal to shape the Nittany Lions for the 2024-2025 season.
