Anthony Edwards heaps praise on Timberwolves HC after Game 7 win over Nuggets

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been one of the biggest and most intriguing stories of the 2024 NBA playoffs and the entire season.

After finishing as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, just one game behind the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder, they’re now set for a trip to the conference finals to face the No. 5 seed Dallas Mavericks.

Anthony Edwards has been the headliner for the Timberwolves this postseason, but the 22-year-old budding star is always quick to praise his teammates and the coaching staff.

That rang true again following the T-Wolves’ stunning comeback Game 7 victory over the Nuggets on Sunday night, as Edwards praised virtually every teammate whose name came up in conversation.

But for Edwards, the topic of Minnesota head coach Chris Finch deserved a detailed breakdown of just how incredible of a job he’s done, as HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto detailed.

“[Finch] is just a great coach, and he don't sugarcoat anything with anybody. If KAT's [expletive] up he's gonna get on KAT. If I'm [expletive] up, he's gonna get on me. If Rudy’s [expletive] up, he’s gonna get on anybody messing up throughout the game,” Edwards said.

“I think that’s what makes him the best coach in the NBA to me, because no matter who it is or how high the player is on the pole, he’s going to get on you from start to finish. It starts with the head of the snake, and he’s the head of our snake. We all listen to him, look up to him, and he does a great job of making sure we’re ready to go every night.”

After a season in which the Timberwolves went 56-26, posting their highest winning percentage since the 2003-04 season, it’s hard to argue with Edwards.

Finch has led the Timberwolves to the postseason in all three of his years at the helm, with the team finishing no worse than 42-40 in any season.

Now, Finch, Edwards and a Minnesota team loaded with talent are just four wins away from heading to the 2024 NBA Finals, but a talented Mavericks team led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving stands in the way.
