Rudy Gobert Listed as Questionable for Game 2 vs Nuggets
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves play against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night for game 2 of the western conference semifinals and the Wolves game day status report came with a surprising “Questionable” designation for the likely defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert.

Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert questionable for game 2

It lists “personal reasons” as why Rudy may not be available tonight. Nothing has been reported officially, as to what Gobert’s personal reasons are but he is reportedly expecting a child soon and has recently noted that he will miss a playoff game, if it comes between the birth of his children.

“I would do anything I can to be there. I don’t think there’s any debate to have. Coach Finch and every guy in this locker room, that’s what I love about them, we have a level of human connection and empathy for one another that I think is really good. And I think all the guys will be literally telling me, ‘Don’t play, go.’”

Missing Gobert would be a big blow to the Timberwolves chances of going up 2-0 in this series. Everything Minnesota does defensively starts with Rudy, especially when they are playing against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. If he isn’t available, it would change everything about their gameplan.

Rudy was not seen at shootaround this morning, so it’s possible he isn’t even in Denver. But that hasn’t been reported officially either. Gobert is averaging 13.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game so far this postseason.

When updates come out regarding Gobert’s status, this article will be updated.
